Biography
Matthew Lawrence Hayden AM, is a retired Australian Cricketer who was born on the 29th of October 1971. Hayden was born and grew up in Kingaroy in Queensland. Hayden holds the record for the highest score ever made by an Australian batsman making 380 runs. He has a test batting average of 50.7 and when he retired from International cricket in 2009, he was equal 6th with South African Jacques Kallis on the all-time list for the most test centuries, having scored 30 centuries. His batting average in one day internationals is 43.80. Overall he represented Australia on 264 occasions in test matches and one day internationals, scoring 14,758 runs across both formats, with a total of 40 centuries and 65 half centuries across both formats. Matt is arguably one of the best players to represent Australia in cricket. Hayden retired from all forms of cricket in 2012 after playing some domestic T-20 cricket over the world although he did play a few one off games in 2015 to promote cricket in the United States of America with Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar's Wolrd All Stars competition. 'Haydos' as he was known by his teammates during his career now runs his own business called The Hayden Way. Hayden is an ambassador for many different organisations like the Global Public School of Kerala in India, the Prostate Cancer Foundation, Ronald McDonald House and the Champagnat Trust. The Hayden Way takes the lead on community initiativesand it has a great partnership with the people of the Tiwi Islands.
